Advertising problems rarely wait for someone to open a dashboard. Campaigns keep spending overnight, during meetings, and across weekends. A broken destination, an unfamiliar admin, or a sudden budget change can sit unnoticed while the account continues doing exactly what the platform was told to do.
This is a full-length AdFence editorial demo. It uses a realistic monitoring workflow to show how article headings, the table of contents, callouts, author details, FAQs, related posts, and in-article actions appear on the live site.
The expensive gap is between launch and discovery
Most ad teams know how to launch, optimise, and report on campaigns. The awkward part comes between those routines. A campaign can change after launch. A card can expire. Tracking can stop. An account restriction can interrupt delivery. Access can be granted to someone the team does not recognise. Each event may begin as one small change, but the cost grows while nobody sees it.
AdFence is designed for that gap. It checks connected Meta, Google, and TikTok advertising accounts on the cadence published by the product, currently every 15 minutes. The aim is simple: bring unusual or damaging changes to the team’s attention while there is still time to investigate them.
Start with a connection you control
A watch begins when a user connects an advertising account through the platform’s OAuth flow. AdFence does not ask for or store the user’s platform password. The connection grants only the permissions needed for the monitoring features the user chooses.
Read-only by default
Normal monitoring is read-only. AdFence can inspect the signals available through the connected platform without changing campaigns, budgets, ads, or account settings. That distinction matters because the first job of monitoring is to establish what changed and when, not to add another unexplained change to the account.
The optional Kill Switch is separate
The Kill Switch is an optional control. When a user enables it, AdFence receives limited write access for the specific purpose of pausing campaigns on selected connected accounts. Teams can keep monitoring read-only if that is the right operating model for them.
Several signals can describe one incident
A useful watch is broader than a single spend threshold. The current AdFence product groups checks across account access, campaign structure, destinations, tracking, billing and delivery conditions. Looking across those areas helps a team see whether an isolated change is harmless or part of a larger problem.
Access and account structure
An unfamiliar admin, a new partner request, an unexpected third-party connection, or a new ad account under the business can deserve attention. None of those events proves malicious activity by itself. It may be a legitimate agency handoff or a colleague doing approved work. The useful part is making the change visible so the account owner can confirm it.
Spend, budgets, and campaign changes
Budget and campaign changes can be intentional, accidental, or unauthorised. A daily budget that moves far beyond the team’s plan creates a different kind of risk from ordinary performance variation. Monitoring gives the team a timestamped signal to compare with its own change log and approval process.
Destinations, tracking, billing, and delivery
Paid traffic loses value when the destination is unavailable, the certificate has expired, or an ad begins sending visitors somewhere the team does not own. Tracking failures create a different blind spot: campaigns may continue spending even though conversion events have stopped reporting. Billing issues, spend limits, platform restrictions, and delivery interruptions can also stop ads while the team assumes they are still running.
Why correlation matters
One signal supplies a clue. Several signals close together provide context. Imagine a new admin appearing, a campaign budget changing, and a destination moving to an unfamiliar domain. Treating those as three unrelated notifications makes the team reconstruct the story manually. Seeing them on one timeline gives the investigation a much better starting point.
Correlation does not make the final decision for the operator. It helps organise the evidence. The account owner still needs to compare the activity with approved work, platform logs, agency changes, and the people who had access at the time.
From an alert to an evidence trail
Send the signal where the team already works
Alerts are most useful when they reach the people who can act. AdFence supports configured notification channels so teams do not have to rely on someone remembering to check another dashboard. Severity and quiet-hour settings help each member decide what should interrupt them and what can wait for normal review.
Keep the sequence, not just the final state
By the time someone investigates, the account may no longer look the way it did when the alert fired. A timeline preserves the order of observed changes: what appeared first, what followed, and which account or campaign was involved. That record gives internal teams, agencies, and platform support a shared set of facts to discuss.
Use a practical response loop
Start by confirming scope. Identify the affected platform, workspace, advertising account, campaigns, and destination. Check whether the activity matches an approved change. If it does not, review current access and the platform’s own security logs.
Next, reduce exposure using controls your team has already approved. That may mean pausing affected campaigns, removing unfamiliar access through the advertising platform, revoking an OAuth connection, or escalating the issue through the platform’s support and security process. AdFence’s optional Kill Switch can pause selected campaigns when it has been enabled for that account.
Finally, record the decision. Capture what the team observed, when it responded, what it changed, and what still needs follow-up. The point is not paperwork for its own sake. A clear record prevents the next person from starting the investigation from zero.
What AdFence does not replace
Monitoring is one part of account security. Teams still need strong identity controls, sensible permissions, platform-native security settings, payment controls, an approval process for campaign changes, and people who know who should have access. AdFence also cannot control the systems or disclosure processes of Meta, Google, TikTok, Slack, Telegram, Stripe, or any other third-party service.
It does not replace human judgement either. A promotion can explain a sharp budget increase. A scheduled redesign can explain a destination change. An agency onboarding can explain a new partner. The monitoring layer makes those changes visible; the people responsible for the account decide what they mean.
